Services Offered:
CRIBS, an interagency council, is composed of public,
private, and community members who serve infants and toddlers, birth to
thirty-six months, who have or are at risk of developmental disabilities. The council identifies projects for each
year. For example, in the fiscal
year 1999-2001, the Council is offering developmental screenings throughout the
county. For families of children birth to thirty-six months who have or are at
risk of developmental disabilities.
Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:
Assist at developmental screenings as well as participate
in planning and organizing. Because
CRIBS is a council of many agencies, there is the opportunity to provide
volunteer service to a number of agencies. This can be arranged on an individual basis.

California Children Services (CCS) is a program funded by
the State and County, which provides medical case management to physically
disabled or seriously ill children from birth to age 21, who meet CCS
eligibility requirements. Free
diagnostic evaluations are available to children who are suspected of having a
CCS eligible medical condition. Diagnosis, treatment, physical and occupational therapy services are
available to qualified children as well as emergency and on-going medical care
for life-threatening or debilitating conditions.
Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:
For volunteers interested in gaining insight and remedial
understanding of a public health entity that services critically ill children or
for those wishing to receive a brief overview of working in a medical back
office, we accept volunteers for photocopying projects, filing, assisting with
mailouts, data-entry, claims processing, and various projects.
Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:
For the more dedicated volunteers, they will begin by the
learning processes described for short-term volunteers, and depending upon their
knowledge, skills, and abilities, can progress to more in-
depth projects. Volunteers with bilingual skills can assist with interpretation for
clients, scheduling client appointments, and coordinating the screening clinics
for orthodontia.

students to observe segments of our process. The four main areas are hands-on
physical/occupational therapy at one of our seven school sites, observation of
the referral process and back office procedures with automated case management
