Services Offered:

Full-service general acute care hospital with 200 licensed beds.  Major provider of reproductive medicine, obstetrical neonatal intensive care, perinatal, and gynecologic oncology services.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Very difficult on short-term basis.  Occasionally, can be handled in conjunction with a specific project or health fair. 

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Offer six different volunteer groups.  The Guild is the largest volunteer group with both junior and adult divisions.  Hospice is a volunteer group to offer caring for people whose disease process is no longer reversible.  Rockers Club provides care for premature infants.  Pastoral Care and Health Ministries provides care visits to patients and grief recovery support to bereaved families.  Medical Explorer Post is a volunteer group to help people learn more about careers in the health fields.  ElderMed provides assistance to the hospital’s senior program.  Students can volunteer in any of these groups.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality medical care and treatment to children who suffer from catastrophic illnesses.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Assist staff with volunteer support for specific fund raisers.  Duties may include data processing, volunteer recruitment, media releases, follow-up, etc.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Same as above.

 

Opportunities to Observe at Organization:

The hospital is located in Memphis, TN.  We have a regional fund raising office located in Orange.  Students are welcome to observe there.  Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Individuals have the opportunity to provide supplemental, supportive and nonprofessional services on the floors, in the clerical departments or at the customer service stations within the medical center.

Assistance in Clerical Departments, Patient Care Unit Departments, Information/Customer Service Departments, Rehab Positions, and Off Site Departments.
