Services Offered:

Provide food, clothing, shelter through Catholic Churches throughout the County, along with other services.  Provide a vital food link between the food industry and the hungry through a food distribution center.  Visit the incarcerated and their families to offer support and assistance through the Friends Outside program.  Through ministry, serve incarcerated youth, without regard to religious affiliation.  Provide counseling and support upon release.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Help with foods inspection line at the food distribution center.  Sort donated products and volunteer floor time at the thrift stores.

Shelter for the homeless, classes designed to equip clients with the tools necessary to become meaningful, productive and assertive citizens.

Provide educationally oriented child care.  Many opportunities to help teach or teach short-term classes, such as literacy, math skills, parenting, relationships, self awareness, and job application skills.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Services Offered:

Project H.O.P.E. School provides a full educational school program to homeless & low income children grades from kindergarten to the eighth grade.  In conjunction with the Orange County Department of Education, the YWCA has designed this program to give homeless children the special attention and services they cannot receive in mainstream public school.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Under the direction of the teacher, tutor children either in a group or one-on-one. Prepare breakfast. Help supervise arts and crafts.
