Services Offered:

SCAMP Camp is a week-long summer camp experience for kids (8-14) with asthma.  The camp is fully staffed with a medical volunteer team.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Prepare parent packets, promote activities, assist with mail preparation, do data entry, and help with office organization.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Participate in promotional activities and evaluation.

Services Offered:

“Kids in Action” is the prevention component of the City of Anaheim’s Project S.A.Y. program.  The Project provides activities for children ages 5-12 years.  “Kids in Action” offers comprehensive non-traditional recreation, sports and outreach services to eight targeted Anaheim neighborhoods.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Yes.  With two weeks advance notification, short-term volunteer options are available at each of our eight sites.

Yes.  With two weeks advance notification, long-term volunteer options are available at each of our eight sites.

Two vans provide medical care to children from birth to fourteen and a prenatal van provides care for pregnant women.

Services Offered:

Youth and family educational and recreational programs; preschool, day care, after-school care, summer day camp; on-site after-school programs based in the community.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Help with office support, doing photocopying, filing, answering phones, and miscellaneous duties.  Volunteer for the Urban Peace Corps, a program where volunteers work a short-term, after-school, on-site program one to two days per week one to two hours per day.  Could also work with this program in the capacity of helping elementary-aged students in recreational and educational activities.  Help with one-day events either through planning or assisting on the day of the event.  Coordinate a Child Health Fair. Help with being a youth sports coach or mentor, two to five days a week at various sites.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Urban Peace Corps: Students develop a program, plan the schedule, assist in setting up a placement and promotion, and then run the after-school program.  May choose to do one program for the entire semester or do several four week programs and rotate. Homework House: Afternoon and evening tutoring opportunities. Tutor children in grades K-8th, one to three days a week, or two hours each day. Lampson After-School Homework Club: Tutor children in 4th and 5th grades and lead recreational activities at Lampson Elementary School, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm Monday through Thursday.

Students are always welcome to stop by during business hours (M-F, 9-5).  If interested in a specific program, it is best to call and find out the times and dates.  If students call in advance, they can set up a visit to an on-site program in the community.
