Services Offered:

Assist children and parents through the investigatory process after disclosure of sexual abuse.  Provide child advocacy and victim services, crisis intervention, and information and referral to community resources. 

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities: Not available.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Student Intern Program.  Need commitment of four hours per week for a minimum of one semester.  Fifteen-hour training program required of interns.  Interns help emotionally support children, parents and other family members.  Interns might lead creative activities for children, assist nurse practitioner or doctor by caring for children during exams, go out into the field with social workers, and/or participate

in community education programs.  In need of business majors to help with administration/business side of organization.

Services Offered:

Provide support for abused, neglected, and/or abandoned children.  Help teens who will soon be eighteen and independent.  Coordinate special programs for the mentally ill.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Contact Bermice Tucker at (714) 935-7571 for volunteer program at Orangewood Children’s Home.  Responsibilities include assisting in cottages with younger abused, neglected, and/or abandoned children and/or presenting a class such as crafts, art, music, or dance to older children. 

 

Contact Jane Dawson at (714) 834-7440 for volunteer program at Social Services Agency.  Orientations are held last Tuesday of each month.  Responsibilities include being a friend or role-model for children involved in the programs, acting as a mentor for teenagers in Independent Living Program, and/or being a volunteer for special projects such as Operation Santa Claus.

Services Offered:

Residential treatment program providing group homes in established neighborhoods for abused and neglected children between the ages of ten and eighteen years of age.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Clerical services needed in the corporate office as well as research volunteers needed to track clients after they have left the program.  Volunteers also needed to set up parties on special occasions for the children.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers needed as a “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” for abused and neglected children.  Also need “Group Home Volunteers” who work with the six children in the home.

Due to confidentiality concerns, we are not able to allow visitors into the home until they have been cleared by the agency.

Residential treatment program for severely abused boys from birth to twelve years of age and girls from birth to 22 years.  Regular Services Offered: Assessment, counseling, therapy, education and tutoring, nutritional supervision, health care supervision, research, evaluation and outcome measurement.  Special Programs Offered: Chemical Dependency Program, Independent Living and Emancipation Program, vocational training, parenting skills training, Child Development Program, infant day care, Arts/Crafts/Recreation Program.  Weekly staff training.  Undergraduate and graduate internships and MFCC and LCSW licensure supervision.  Foster Care Program provides placement in community foster homes for boys and girls from birth to eighteen years of age.
