Services Offered:

Drug- and gang-awareness programs in class for kindergarten through sixth; drug- and gang-awareness presentations for parents and in the workplace; publications (Quest for high school students ); IMPACT: Students Making a Difference youth group.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Help with simple office work and event assistance.  Please call for appointment and assignments.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Assist with special events.  All volunteer work varies with our scheduling; call ahead to set up appointment and assignments.

Students are welcome to observe and participate, but they must call ahead to make arrangements.

Anti-gang education, intervention, diversion, and prevention strategies for schools plus school safety and anti-violence strategies.

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Assist with general office and filing experience and neighborhood/parent positive resource lists.

Opportunities to Observe at Organization:

It is possible for students to observe for two hours, half day or all day to learn about anti-gang/school-safety strategies.

Project S.A.Y.

Services Offered:

Project S.A.Y. is the City of Anaheim’s youth Development Program. The Project uses a combination of outreach, paraprofessional counseling, recreation and sports activities to encourage youth at risk of gang and drug involvement to become involved in positive alternative activities.

Recreation, athletic leagues, and tutoring for at-risk youth.  Paraprofessional counseling, including career, referral and chemical dependency, crisis intervention.

 

Short-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Assist with weekend sporting tournaments, backpacking trips, and camping trips.

 

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities:

Mentor/tutor at-risk youth.

 

Opportunities to Observe at Organization:

Students can visit our site.  Please call for more information.

 

Opportunities for On-site Informational Interview:

The students can join a weekly activity and interview the clients we supervise.  In addition, contact Dane Swenson, Youth at Risk/Gang Intervention Coordinator, at (714) 491-1450.
