Welcome from the A.S.
President
On behalf of the Associated Students, it's an honor to welcome you to
Fullerton College. Whether you're an incoming freshman, a
continuing or a returning student, may you find in Fullerton College
more than an educational experience, but the support you need to
accomplish both your academic and personal goals. Home away from
home for thousands or students, FC is not solely an educational
institution but a community of students and educators who have focused
on promoting the significance of education throughout our society.
Fullerton College, consequently, has become a sanctuary for learning,
where students from all different backgrounds can work toward achieving
their dreams thus creating the
stepping stones for their future endeavors.
Throughout this upcoming year, I hope you take advantage of all the
student services available on campus and never hesitate to ask questions
when you need help. From our part as your elected student
representatives, we hope to not only address the issues affecting the
student body, but advocate for them on a daily basis. In the past
years, we have seen how budget cuts are not only affecting the number of
classes available but are also impacting the daily life and well being
of every student. A.S., for such reason, is working diligently
towards expanding the A.S. CareBank program, a service that provides FC
students with food certificates and/or bus passes to and from school as
short-term emergency aid. Similarly, A.S. will focus on creating a
welcoming environment for the growing population of AB 540 students,
returning Veterans, evening students, and the LGBT students. In
the same manner, A.S. plans to expand the recycling program, which we
began last year, in hopes of making Fullerton College a more
environmentally friendly campus.
I encourage you all to partake in every single even on campus, join the
various organizations available and become involved in student
government. Don't forget to purchase your Campus ID Card and A.S.
Benefits , which are essential to receiving services on campus and
discounts to A.S. sponsored services, Fine Arts events, FC Athletic
competitions, Bookstore promotions, Cosmetology Services, "FC Days"
ticket sales and community discounts. Foremost, as a community of students facing difficult times in our education, I urge you all to
voice your concerns and become active participants in promoting the
needs of the students. Join me and every student representative as
we foster a more equitable setting for students, not only on campus but
also throughout our communities. I look forward to meeting many of
you throughout the school year. Feel free to contact me at

A.S. Office in Rm 222 on the second floor the College Center/200 Bldg.
Once again, Welcome to Fullerton College, and as labor leader and civil
rights activist, Cesar Chavez, once said, "Students must have
initiative...they should not be mere imitators. They must learn to
think and act for themselves and be free."
Sincerely,
Maria Duque, A.S. President
