Basic Requirements

Must be enrolled in 9+ units
Must be enrolled in a minimum of 1 unit at Fullerton College
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0+

NOTE: (Those who are applying for membership that have just graduated from high school must have a 3.5 GPA minimum; see below)
Must complete 10 hours of community service and earn 10 club points each semester
Attend 7 out of 14 meetings per semester
Submit application by the deadline [March 21, 2008] with:
A $25 nonrefundable check/money order (NO CASH) to Alpha Gamma Sigma with your student ID written under "memo." Be sure there is an address on the check or else it will not be accepted.

A copy of your most recent unofficial transcript or report card.

Signed sheet of the Statement of Understanding. Without a Statement of Understanding, the secretary may not count club/service hours.

Types of Membership

Temporary Membership

Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 from high school to Fullerton College. <Any member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) can join>

Must meet all requirements of initial and continuing membership (see below), except the completion of 12 units requirements

Initial Membership

First semester AGS members that have fulfilled the above requirements and for those who have already completed at least 12 units

Continuing Membership

Any member who has completed at least one semester of AGS membership

Continuing members whose GPA has dropped below 3.0 may qualify for one semester grace period with all privileges of membership except holding state elective office.

Permanent Membership
(Only for students who are graduating of transferring )

To qualify you must meet one of the following criteria :

Be an AGS member for two semesters with at least a 3.25 GPA

OR

Be an AGS member for one semester with at least a 3.5 GPA

In addition, you must complete all the required community service hours and club points and have 60 units by the time you transfer. If you would like to apply for permanent membership, be sure to fill out a Supplemental Information Form and submit it with your application.

Community Service Hours and Club Points

AGS has a reputation of being active around campus and in our community. The board and advisors encourage members to take an active role in the organization to enrich your academic experience at Fullerton College. You will need to record your hours on Community Service and Club Service Verification forms and then submit them accordingly.

Community Service Hours
-You are required to complete 10 hours of community service each semester. Each unpaid hour you serve your community will earn you one community service hour.
-You can earn community service hours by signing up for club-sponsored events we announce at the meetings or volunteer opportunities you already participate in or find on your own.
-Please let the Community Service Chairperson know at least 24 hours in advance if you signed up for an event and cannot go or else you will be deducted the same number of hours the service is worth!

Club Points
Members are required to complete 10 club points each semester.
You can earn club points by:
-Attending a restaurant fundraiser: 1 pt/fundraiser
-Going to TV Tapings*: 3 pts/taping
Every person you bring from OUTSIDE of the club: 1 pt/person
Giving a ride to other club members: 1 point max (no matter how many you bring)
-Participating in campus-sponsored event: 1 pt/hour
-Help making Publicity Posters: 1 pt/session
-Representing AGS at ICC Meetings on 2nd/4th Monday of each month from 1:30-3:30 pm:
2 pts/meeting (please notify ICC rep beforehand)
-Attending ALL general meetings (will be added at ended of semester): 3 points
-Getting others to join (qualification: must meet requirements and pay dues): 1 pt=2 people
-Anything else that is club-approved and is announced beforehand
*If you cannot make it to a TV Taping, please notify the Activities Director 24 hours in advance or you will be deducted three club points.

Rules
-You must turn in your points to the Secretary at our meeting or in our mailbox WITHIN ONE WEEK completing the activity. If you fail to follow this rule, your hours/points will NOT be counted!
-Community Service Verification Forms must be filled out properly with the supervisor¡¯s signature, phone number, and brief description of the service in order to get credit.
- If you do not complete the hours, you are expected to make them up the following semester.
